LAKE WALES--Zane U. Jones, 59, of Lake Wales died of heart failure Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born December 30, 1947 in Abilene, Texas; he came here from Mineral Wells, Texas in 1972. He was a Herbicide Technician for Asplundh Brush Control. He was a member of the New Harvest Worship Center and a veteran of Viet Nam, serving in the U.S. Army. He was the State of Florida Skeet Champion in 1979. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty fan. He was also a F.S.U. fan.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Owens and Barbara Moody; brother, James L. “Cowboy” Jones; and parents, Allen Davidson and Irma Excil (Able) Jones. Survivors include his wife, Diane Milner Jones of Lake Wales; daughter, Stephanie Tobar of Lake Wales; sons, Damon Jones of Avon Park; Richard Jones of Brownwood, TX; Floyd Milner of Cleveland, TN; Jessie Stephens of Lake Wales; Brian Stephens of Lake Wales; Bruce Stephens of Babson Park; brother, George Jones of Lake Wales; Joy Dailey of Chuckey, TN; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2007 at the funeral home in Lake Wales with Rev. Steve Livingston and Rev. John Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
