W.J. Simmons

W.J. Simmons of Lake Wales passed away on Tuesday, October 06, 2009.

He was born November 11, 1915 in Moultrie, GA to the late Thomas Ivey & Laura Ann Madison (Collins) Simmons; and was a sibling of six brothers and sisters. He has been a Florida resident since 1925 and later attended Frostproof High School. He and his wife were married and moved to Miami in 1938, where he owned several businesses in the automotive and aeronautical industry. In 1978, he retired and returned to Lake Wales.

Survivors include his wife Irene P. Simmons, of 71 years; daughters, June (Roy G.) Bond of Orlando, Marsha ( Richard L.) Cassady of Placida, and Patti (Roger V.) Moore of Lake Wales; sister,Mandy Mae Putnam of Ocala; four grandchildren,Donna L. Bond of Orlando,Karen C. Holland and Richard L. Cassady II of Charlotte, NC, and Justin V. Moore of Lake Wales; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kaylin Holland, Zachary and Caleb Cassady, all of Charlotte, NC.
