Willis H. Knowles, 87, of Clearwater passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Consulate Healthcare in Safety Harbor.

Born September 5, 1920 in Tifton, Georgia; he came here in 1945 following his military service. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He moved to Clearwater in 1966. He was a member of the Methodist church in Clearwater and a member of the Masonic Lodge #127 Tampa, 32nd Degree, the Egypt Temple Shrine and O.E.S.

Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Knowles. Survivors include his daughter, Ellen Victoria Knowles and husband, John Eglin, of Clearwater; son, Richard F. Knowles of Brooksville; one grandson, Richard “Hoss” Knowles; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Knowles of Inverness.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
