William "Chuck" Yancey

March 8, 1938 — December 15, 2023

William Charles “Chuck” Yancey, 85
William Charles “Chuck” Yancey of Lake Wales passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at Advent Health Lake Wales.

He was born March 8, 1938 in Plummerville, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Retha Mae Yancey; he moved to Lake Wales from Apopka in 1968. Chuck retired from Florida Power Corporation after 37 years and was a member of Impact Church Lake Wales. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1957 until 1961.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Garland Yancey, Harley Yancey, and Benny Yancey; and sisters Margaret Thomas and Clotene Gauvey. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Yancey; daughters, Angela Rudy (Shawn), and Karen Spurlock (Bobbie); brother, Ronnie Yancey; sister, Carolyn Bridges; grandchildren, Tyler VanBlarcom (Shelby), Carson Rudy, Austin Spurlock (Bridget), and Kendalyn Spurlock; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elora, Waylon, and Stetson; and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was a man of great faith. He was a strong man of few words, when he spoke people listened. He loved Glenda and his family above all else other than Jesus. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed blessing those around him with amazing food. We take hope in Lamentations 3:22-26 “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, Because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; Therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, To the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly Wait for the salvation of the LORD.”

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Impact Church in Lake Wales. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the parking lot fund for Impact Church at www.impactlw.org.
