William C. "Bill" Weigand of Frostproof passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Florida Hospital Heartland Division in Sebring.
He was born August 12, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Chester & Margaret (Wilkinson) Weigand; he came here from Ithaca, NY 15 years ago. He was retired from the Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY as a police officer in 1991. He was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of Viet Nam, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1253 in Ithaca, NY and enjoyed riding motorcycles & bicycles. He was also an avid reader.
Bill was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Chester and Jerry. Survivors include his wife, Linda "Chum" Weigand; daughters, Lisa Lorer (Philip) of Newfield, NY, Suzi Munoz (Julian) of Trumansburg, NY, Lisa Wurzel of Swoyersville, PA and Kelly Burke of Trumansburg, NY; sister, Peggi Kolesar of Fort Collins, CO; seven grandchildren; and a good friend, Jerry Tucker.
No local services are scheduled. A memorial service will be held in Ithaca, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067.
