William H. “Babe” Tyson, 82, of Babson Park passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at Palm Terrace Hospice House in Lakeland.

Born June 17, 1925 in Bel-Aire, MD; he came here from Lake Milton, OH in 1985. He was a retired tire mechanic for Anchor Motor Freight in Lordstown, OH and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed sports, especially football and baseball.

Mr. Tyson was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Saylor, grandchildren, Danielle Stringer, brothers, Jimmy Tyson; Charlie Tyson; and Edward Tyson; and sister, Hazel Anderson. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Vivian Tyson of Babson Park; children, Brenda Balford of Lake Wales; Sherry Stringer of Maysville, KY; Nora & husband Alan Goolsby of Lake Wales; Cindy Grant, Sandra Dugger, Elaine Phillips and Billy Tyson all of Ohio; brother, Robert Tyson of Oxlahatchee, FL; sister, Carol Smith of Joppol, MD, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
