LAKE WALES--William J. Steiert Jr. of Lake Wales died from complications of pneumonia Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 81.

Born May 25, 1925 in Muskogee, OK; he moved here from Oscoda, MI 28 years ago. He was retired from the U.S. Military. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam, serving in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Emily Ann Steiert of Lake Wales; daughters, Vicky Jo Baldwin of Romeoville, IL; Kathy Plummer of Jacksonville; step-daughter, Mary Draper of Lake Wales; son, Richard Steiert of Clarksville, TN; step-sons, Howard S. Draper of Soldotna, AK; Clifford G. Draper of Seward, AK; David S. Draper of Oscoda, MI; brothers, Joseph Steiert of Tulsa, OK; Ray Steiert of Minot, ND; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, February 05, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Inurnment will be held at2:30 PM, Monday, February 05, 2007 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
