William Robert Seibert

William Robert Seibert, 88

William Robert Seibert passed away July 30 at Lakeland Regional Hospital after a tragic accident at his home.

Bill was born in Mount Vernon, New York, on September 3, 1935 to Katherine (Reilly) and Arthur C. Seibert.  He was afforded an opportunity to attend the private high school, Archbishop Stepinac High School, where he was introduced to the Catholic faith. Upon graduating, he worked with his father in the electrical business and joined the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged after 4 years active duty/4 years inactive duty in the aviation branch of the US Navy, assigned to the VW-2 Squadron stationed at Patuxent River, MD. After leaving the Navy, he received his degree in Logistics Engineering and retired as Director of Field Operations in Aeronautic Engineering at Kearfott Aerospace Corp.

He met the love of his life Patricia A. Robinson and they were married on May 9, 1959. Together they travelled to Bermuda, Germany and England then returned stateside and settled in Pleasantville, NY where they raised their four children before relocating to Andover, NJ. They retired to Hawley, PA and later to Aiken, SC. They enjoyed over 50 years together, before her passing in 2009.

Bill was always very social and involved with bowling leagues, racquet ball and bridge clubs. Hunting and golfing were two of his passions. He took pleasure in camping with family and friends every weekend between Memorial and Labor Days, with vacations spent in New Hampshire and the Jersey Shore. He looked forward every year to joining friends at deer camp in upstate New York.

After the loss of his wife, he eventually settled in Winter Haven, FL. In his final years he enjoyed playing various card games and learning Mahjong. He shared his smile, intelligence, wit and positivity with all he met.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, wife Pat, and brother Arthur E. Seibert and sister Betty Lou McGee. He is survived by his son William D. Seibert and his family in Lagrangeville, NY, daughter Kelly Seibert of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Tami and Neil Gervia and their family in Monkton, VT, and daughter Kerry and Steve Marek in Aurora, IL. His four granddaughters were the apple of his eye.

Funeral services will be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home, in Pleasantville, NY with visitation on Friday, August 16 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville on Saturday, August 17 at 11am. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bill to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or any foundation that assists those who served our Country.
