William H. “Bill” Edwards, 96, of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at his residence.

Born February 8, 1912 in Vienna, GA; he came here 83 years ago from Georgia. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force Pacific Theater. He was a member of the V.F.W.; was active in his church; and loved fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lorena L. Edwards of Lake Wales; sons, Rick Edwards of Lake Wales; Eric Edwards of Lake Wales; daughters, Janet Edwards of Lake Wales; Lisa Toruno of Altamonte Springs; Carla Murphy of Heppner, OR; sister, Grace E. Mays of Lake Wales; 11 grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Central Avenue Baptist Church, Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
