William G Burns

William G. Burns of Lake Wales, Florida, died Saturday, February 27, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret, his children Sheila (Paul Roebuck), Eileen Perez (Santiago), Paul (Robin), Timothy (Stacy), Michael (Suzanne), his son-in-law William S. Molloy, Jr., 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia Molloy. Also survived by his brother Ronald R. Burns and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born November 2, 1932 in Whitehall, N. Y. to William H. and Doris Vermet Burns. He was a graduate of Union College in 1954 earning a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent his entire career with the Bell System until 1984 when he was appointed Vice Chairman/Chief Financial Officer of NYNEX Corporation. He was Trustee Emeritus and former Chairman of Board of Trustees of Union College. He served on various Boards of Directors including New York Life Insurance Company, Gregorian University Foundation, Bok Tower Gardens,Winter Haven Hospital and its Foundation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 644 So. 9th Street, Lake Wales.
