William "Bill" Thomas Mosley

With full but heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William "Bill" Thomas Mosley on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Somers Hospice House in Sebring.

Bill was born on November 22, 1933 to the late Leon and Beulah Mosley in Metter, Georgia. He moved to Lake Wales from Alabama in 1974.

In his 92 years on this Earth, Bill lived a life dedicated to serving others. Inspired by his faith, he strove to emulate the example of Jesus Christ, always extending kindness and grace.

Bill proudly served in the US Army for over 20 years, dedicating himself to bringing freedom and prosperity to the innocent in Korea and Vietnam as a First Sergeant. He felt deep compassion for the children in these regions, often sharing what little he had to offer comfort amidst trying circumstances.

Following his departure from the United States Military, he worked as a store manager for Firestone and as a sales manager for Babcock. Bill was a devoted volunteer at his grandsons’ schools and an active member of First Baptist Church of Lake Wales as well as the Rotary Club in Lake Wales. He was profoundly moved by President John F. Kennedy's call to service, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” and lived by those words.

Deeply family-oriented, Bill cherished his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. After his son-in-law's passing, he became a second father to his grandson, imparting invaluable life lessons. He lovingly cared for his father and his wife until their passings.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Doris A. Mosley. He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Batson of Lake Wales; grandson, Douglas Batson, Jr. of Lake Wales; and sister, June Monk of Frostproof.

His legacy is one of unwavering service, steadfast love for his family, and a commitment to his community.

A funeral service to honor Bill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley and Col. Ed Northrop officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
