William "Bill" Crane

William “Bill” Crane, 84

William “Bill” Crane of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Somers Hospice House.

He was born October 26, 1939 in Binghampton, New York to the late George and Doris Crane. Bill was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 23 years and served with the United States National Guard. He was a member of Lake Wales Methodist Church, National Association of Letter Carriers, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Bill was a longtime resident of Cold Spring, New York and he moved to Nalcrest, Florida, a letter carriers retirement village, in 2004. Bill was an avid bowler with an average of over 200. He achieved his 300 game in 2003 and received a silver ring. He was in many tournaments throughout Florida. He also enjoyed camping in his motor home, covering 46 of the 50 states.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Dawley in 2012; brother, George Crane, Sr.; and sister, Patricia Nesti. He is survived by his wife of almost 5 years, Deirdre Smith; sisters, Louise Fowles, Dr. Betsy Crane (Robert), and Peggi Crane (John); and brother, Thomas Crane (Susan).
