LAKE WALES -- Mr. Wilfred J. "Bill" Schofield, of Lake Wales, died at his residence on Tuesday (Jan. 31, 2006) of Parkinson's complications. He was 82.

Born March 12, 1923, in Philadelphia, Mr. Schofield came here from Port Saint Lucie in October of 2005.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy and a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

He was a member of the VFW Unit 91 in Orange Park.

Mr. Schofield is survived by his wife, Carol Schofield; daughter, Barbara Dunbar, Vancouver, Wash.; son, Dan Schofield, Indian Lake Estates; sisters, Florence Shaffer, Oakland, N.J., Joan Bergdoll, Cherry Hill, N.J., and Lois Wingerter, Blue Bell, Penn.; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice.
