Whit M. Singleton of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1923 in Panama City to the late Marvin and Mattie Singleton; he grew up in Lake Wales. Whit joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea, following his discharge from the military he moved to Houston, TX for 20 years and returned to Lake Wales in 1969. He was the owner/operator of Singleton Air Conditioning Service and Ice House; he was a member of the Golfview Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ann Singleton; daughters, Cheryl Akin of Texas and Brenda Grulke (Randy) of Lake Wales; son, Mike Singleton (Tammy)of Lake Wales; seven grandchildren, Michael (Nikki) Dunkleberger, Dawn Dunkleberger, Justin Singleton, Donald Akin, Michelle Bearden, Tammy Suting, Brittany Akin and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. David Koon officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
