Walter Franklin Farmer, Sr., lovingly known as “Frank,” passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2026, at the age of 87.
He was born on January 25, 1939, in Duty, Virginia. At the age of 17, Walter moved to Florida, where he spent much of his life working in the citrus industry. He was a hardworking man who dedicated himself to providing for his family and ensuring they were always taken care of.
Walter had a deep love for the mountains of Tennessee, his family, and his faith. He loved Jesus and lived his life with strong values, integrity, and honor. He was respected by everyone who knew him and was considered a hero to many.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Taylor Farmer; his son, Walter F. Farmer, Jr.; son-in-law, Timothy McCullough; and other loved ones including his brothers Beldon Farmer, Levi “Cheetah” Farmer, and Dorsey “Smokey” Farmer, his brother Earl Farmer, and his sister Helen Rollins.
Walter is survived by his loving children: Deborah “Debbie” Carter and her husband David Carter, Brenda McCullough, Frances Corona, Jesse Farmer and wife Breanna, and Corinne Rollins.
He leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, including Jose Corona, Angel Corona and wife Crystal, Carrie Glenn and husband Coty, Petra Farmer‑Carter Sexton and husband Aaron, Merissa Farmer Menz and husband Randy, Juana Rollins, Frankie Trimble and husband Joshua, Diana Farmer, Diamond Townsend and husband Joey, Alice Farmer, Tristen Farmer, Isaiah Farmer, Aiden Cody Stewart, Janiyah Farmer, Kylie Constantine, John Hunter Crowley, and Alexis Mock.
Walter was also blessed with numerous great‑grandchildren, including Coty Glenn Jr., Austin Sexton, James Glenn, Max Timothy, Xavier Corona, Lilly Anna Corona, Damian Trimble, Braxton Waltz, Nevaeh Farmer, Kaleb Waltz, Adalynn Bunn, Alicen-Kaye Sexton, and Chey-Ann Sexton.
In addition, he is survived by his sister‑in‑law Eva Farmer of Winter Haven and his sister Pearl Kirk of Jacksonville, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Walter will be remembered for his strength, his hardworking spirit, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew him.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2026 at Liberty Worship in Wahneta with Pastor Kenneth Music and Pastor Steve Livingston officiating.
