Wade C. Scaggs of Lake Wales passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at the AdventHealth Lake Wales.

He was born September 16, 1948 in Lake Wales to the late Frank and Sarah Jane Scaggs; he started his professional career in Tallahassee in 1968, then continued his work in Tampa and later Newberry before returning to Lake Wales in 1988. He was a retired investigator for the State of Florida States Attorney’s office and in the U.S. Navy Reserves and U.S. Army Reserves, 600 th MP Battalion, 4 th ARCOM. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member Fraternal Order of Police and the Lake Wales Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fan of FSU and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathryn M. Scaggs; daughters, Dottie Schaffner (Mark) of Tallahassee, Shannon Johnson (Brad) of Salt Lake City, UT, Bekah McElroy (Oscar) of Lake Wales and Katie Wach (Jared) of Minneola; son, Seth Scaggs of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Betty Smith (Clif) of Sunny Hills; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Matt Lee officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. The family is requesting everyone attending to please wear a mask.
