Von Rommell Fernandes

Von Rommell Fernandes, known to those who loved him as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 7, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1967, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and from that day forward, enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rommell’s early years in Brazil shaped his character and values. He served honorably with the Brazilian Military, a testament to his dedication and sense of duty. In pursuit of new dreams and opportunities, Rommell journeyed from Brazil to the United States, settling first in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2005, he and his family made Lake Wales their home, where he established deep roots and enriched the lives of those around him.

A true enthusiast for technology, Rommell was known for being ahead of his time. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in TV Production. He was one of the first people among his friends and family to own a computer and embraced every advancement—from the early days of AI to the joys of Skype video calls. He loved making videos, always eager to share a laugh and capture memories. Rommell’s enthusiasm for music, food, and good parties ensured that wherever he was, life was vibrant and full. He relished being the center of attention, radiating positivity and warmth, and delighted in talking to everyone he met. Whether at home or among friends, his presence always carried an infectious “good vibe.”

At the heart of Rommell’s life was his deep commitment to his family. He cherished spending time with them, from sharing meals he lovingly prepared to celebrating life’s milestones together. Rommell’s love for America and the American Dream culminated when he became a U.S. citizen in 2019—an achievement he held with great pride.

Rommell leaves behind a loving family who mourns his loss and cherishes his memory: his devoted wife of 34 years, Lisa B. Fernandes; his beloved daughter, Melanie Guinn and her husband Levi of Lake Wales; his mother, Idalina Goncalves Fernandes; his brother, Von Ruckller Fernandes; and his adored grandchildren, Laynnie, Brynnlee, Luke, and Wylee. Rommell was predeceased by his father, Alfonso Fernandes Machado, and his brother, Von Ranieri Gernandes.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
