Vickie Brocksmith, 106
Vickie Brocksmith of Lake Wales was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital after suffering a massive stroke in her home early that morning. She was surrounded by her family who rejoice in knowing that she is in Heaven with her beloved husband, Ted, whom she missed dearly.
She was born September 29, 1916 in Kite, Georgia to the late Walton and Ada Drawdy. Vickie was a homemaker and pastor’s wife. She was the wife of Reverend F.W. “Ted” Brocksmith who pastored Westside Baptist Church from 1953 until 1962.
Vickie was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Brocksmith in 1971; son-in-laws, Charles Phillips, Grady Singletary and Wes Forte; and grandsons, Larry Singletary and Gregory Lee Phillips. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Phillips of Lake Wales, Teddie Singletary of Lake Wales and Flossie Forte-Slay (Jerry) of Bonifay; grandchildren, Ted Phillips (Marilyn), Vicki Washick (Rick), Cindy Buck (Jeff) and Stephen Singletary (Tina); 9 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
The Lord favored her with a long, healthy, and happy life. She was often asked to share her secret to long life and her reply was always the same, “Just trust in the Lord. He’s always been good to me.”
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.
