Vera Lutz Hartranft Jones, 95

Vera Lutz Hartranft Jones of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her residence.

She was born February 6, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob and Mary Lutz; she moved to Lake Wales from Homestead 40 years ago. Vera was a homemaker and attended the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales. She was an avid square dancer, great cook, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

Vera was proceeded in death by her first husband, Walter Raymond Hartranft; and siblings, Herod Lutz, Charles Schantz, Marie Schantz, Howard Schantz, and Walter (Honey) Schantz. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James H. “Jim” Jones; daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Mesh of Lake Wales; son, Jay (Gail) Hartranft of Lake Wales; step-sons, Stephen (Brenda) Jones of Roswell, Georgia, Dale (Kristin) Jones of Wilksbarre, Pennsylvania, Michael (Lisa) Jones of San Juan Capistrano, California, and James (Suzanne) Jones of Mesa, Arizona; family member, Dorothy Jean Schantz Schartz; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Chaplain Jay Hartranft officiating.
