Vena M. Willis

Vena M. Willis of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 at her residence.

She was born December 31, 1921 in Verden, OK to the late John Clarence & Grace Mae (Karnes) Akin; she came here 3 years ago from Winston, OR. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles. She loved serving the Lord, was a prayer warrior and loved unconditionally.

Vena was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Curtis Willis in 2008. Survivors include her daughters, Glenda Perez of Lake Wales, Nelda Burruss of Lake Wales and Joy Walker of Lake Wales; sons, Wayne Willis of Winston, OR, Paul Willis of Lake Port, CA, Richard Willis of Salem, OR and Marty Willis of Smithfield, VA; sister, Elda Allene Blue of Kelseyville, CA; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 and the funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Pastor Reggie Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
