VEA SCHAFRAN, 87

Vea Schafran, 87, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Winter Haven Hospital Hospital.

Born November 25, 1920 in Tupalo, MS; she came here from Lakeland 11 years ago. She worked with her husband, traveling around the country to many different bowling tournaments. She liked gardening, cooking, shopping, visiting with her friends and the sick. She also enjoyed reading; loved to listen to country music; and wrote some country songs.

Vea was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Schafran Sr.; daughter, Charlene Funderburk; brother, Pervey Hood; sisters, Ruby Dulaney and Velma Taylor. Survivors include her daughters, Pat Cowart of Lake Wales; Betty West of Lake Wales; son, Carl Funderburk of Lake Wales; brother, William Hood of Frostproof; sisters, Jackie Goff of Lakeland; Laverne Stinson of Sebring; Mauvelene Wilbanks of Frostproof; 5 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
