Trueman “Bill” Baker of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital due to pneumonia.
Born August 7, 1930 in Walnut Hill; he came here 46 years ago from Davenport. He was a manager for Winn-Dixie, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Army. He loved to travel and family times. He planned big vacations every year for the family, was a musician, played the guitar and anything with strings, and like to fish.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Baker; daughters, Wanda Baker, Karen Davis and Kimberly “Kim” Baker all of Lake Wales; 3 granddaughters, Felicia Herndon, Regina Davis and Mandy Davis all of Lake Wales; 2 great-grandsons, Michael and Ryan Herndon; 2 nieces, Lynne Janes and Linda Baker; and 3 great-nieces, Peachie Seymour, Cherrie Janes and April Tolbert.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Chris Marlowe officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
