AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Thomas "Tom" Marshall Williams of Lake Wales died of cancer Sunday (Sept. 25, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale. He was 72.

Born Dec. 5, 1932, in Emporia, Va., he came here from Marco Island 10 years ago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years, serving in Korea and Vietnam, and received the Purple Heart. He joined the U.S. Postal Service and became a manager in the add-on zip code department.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Patricia Williams, Lake Wales; daughter, Bunne Grantham, Orlando; son, Thomas K. Williams, California; stepsons, Kenneth S. Holdren, Hollywood, Fla., and Mark K. Holdren, Lake Wales; brothers, Robert Williams, Mechanicsville, Va., V.C. Williams, Colonial Heights, Va., and Mack P. Williams, Richmond, Va.; sisters, Juanita Brown, Richmond, Va., Ellen Beck, Mechanicsville, Va., Irene Newsome, Jacksonville; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that readers tell someone they love them and cherish every day.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales.
