LAKE WALES--Thomas Taylor Jr. of Lake Wales died of heart failure Thursday, January 04, 2007 at his residence. He was 78.

Born May 28, 1928 in Corbin, KY; he has been a winter resident since 1990 and moved here permanently in 2004 from Versailles, KY. He began his career with Kroger Grocery Store and was produce manager for 18 years and retired as manager in 1975. He then went to work for Woodford Bank in Versailles, KY and retired as a loan officer in 1990. He was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church in Lake Wales and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer fireman for 30 years serving in both Corbin and Versailles, KY and was fire chief at the Versailles Fire Dept. for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar with his friends, and helping others in need. He was a published author and wrote a love song for his wife, Julia.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorsey Taylor in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Julia Eaton Taylor of Lake Wales; daughter, Donna Traugott of Versailles, KY; grandchildren, Michael and Bryan and two great-grandchildren.

Local memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Versailles, KY.
