Theresa Petulla Huston, 88

Theresa Petulla Huston of Lake Wales passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Winter Haven Hospital.

Theresa was born November 5, 1933 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel and Antoinette Petulla. She began her career with her father at Petulla Photography Studio. Upon her marriage, Theresa moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania and worked with her husband and father-in-law at Huston Florist and Greenhouse. Then in 1971, she came to Florida and worked at First Federal Bank where she became Branch Manager in Lake Wales then in Frostproof. In 1987, Theresa went into business with her sons, and they opened Huston Motors. She was a member of the Lake Wales Country Club Women’s Golf Association and of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and was known for her hospitality, especially at her annual Easter Block Party. Theresa traveled extensively. She was a devoted wife, mother, and businesswoman and was the matriarch of the family and business.

Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel D. Huston in 1986 after 29 years of marriage; and brother, Samuel Jack Petulla. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Miller of Lake Wales; sons, Dave Huston and wife Tina of Winter Haven, and Tim Huston and wife Kim of Winter Haven; sister, Marie Petulla of Lady Lake; brothers, Edward Petulla of Lady Lake, Richard Petulla of Lady Lake, and Lawrence Petulla of Los Gatos, California; grandchildren, Mathew Miller, Drew Miller and wife Lisa, Hunter Miller and wife Jaryn, Sam Miller, Brandon Huston, Lauren Huston, Ashley Huston, Chaz Huston, and Heather Huston; and great-grandchildren, Reese Miller, Asher Huston, Camellia Miller, and River Miller.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
