Sondra “Sandi” Jo (Brunson) Billings, 87

Sondra “Sandi” Jo (Brunson) Billings was born in the little town of Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 6, 1937. She was the second child and first daughter of six for Eunice Irene (Taylor) and Harold “Gene” Eugene Brunson. In the mid-1950’s, beautiful teenage Sondra met a handsome Airman from Pennsylvania who fell for her instantly. On March 9, 1955, Sondra and her handsome Airman, William “Bill” Earl Billings, became one through holy matrimony. Over the next few months and years, Bill and Sondra’s family grew with the births of Douglas Earl, Marjorie Dayle, and Brenda Joyce. Sadly, they lost Brenda at the innocent age of 3 ½ years to a rare genetic condition called pyloric stenosis.

After marrying Chris Hansen Broyles, Majorie blessed Sondra with the role of grandma with the births of Crystal Lynn and Jared Hansen, whom Sondra adored and helped raise. Crystal and her husband, Darren Philip Harbuck, blessed Sondra with four great-grandchildren – Donovan Gabriel, Alana Belle, Catriana “Cat” Faith, and Darren Philip II. Jared then blessed her with three more great-grandchildren – Chloe Alizabeth, Alexandria Marie, and Xavier Conrad. Last month, Sondra had the joy of watching Donovan marry his love Noelis Coral Bonilla-Rivera.

Nothing was more important to Sondra than her family; she was always there with comforting hugs, encouraging words, or celebratory joy. After her family, Sondra loved her country. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as Secretary, Treasurer, and two-time President.

On Sunday December 22, 2024, Sondra drew her final earthly breath with Crystal and Donovan holding her hands. She is now fully healed and reunited in eternity with her husband, daughter, older brother, and three sisters who went before her. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren left on this side of Heaven, Sondra’s youngest three siblings – Rebecca “Becky” Jane (Brunson) Major, Isabelle Elaine (Brunson) Longerbeam, and Stephen Blaine Brunson – and numerous nieces and nephews (all the way to great, great, great-nieces and nephews) are looking forward to the day when they too join in the eternal reunion with family and Christ.
