Shirley Maxine Thornton, 67, of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at her residence.

Born October 4, 1940 in Bereah, FL; she has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a retired L.P.N. for Walker Memorial and of the Primitive Baptist faith. She was a veteran of Viet Nam, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly MacPherson of Lynchburg, VA; Deborah Ryan of Key West, FL; Yvonne Sprinkle of Key West, FL; Sherri Sprinkle of Irvington, AL; son, Joseph Ryan of Perry, GA; Ray Jenkins Jr. of Millen, GA; brothers, Frank Thornton of Frostproof, FL; Raymond Thornton of Frostproof, FL; Carl Thornton of Mt. Roan, TN; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Corinth Baptist Church in Bereah. Interment will follow at the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Bereah.
