Shirley Thomas

Shirley Ann Thomas of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her residence.

She was born September 15, 1943 in Fort Meade to the late James Clyde & Maggie Louise Thomas; and she was a lifelong resident of the area. She loved Elvis Presley; enjoyed fishing, putting puzzles together, gardening and cooking.

Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Carol Annette Carnley and a brother, Robert Newsome.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Ann Cerullo of Fort Meade, Laura Amanda Burkhalter of Lake Wales and Rhonda Roberta Guy (Otis Sharpe) of Lake Wales; sons, Joey Eugene Carnley of South Carolina and Clyde Whitaker (Renee) of Lake Wales; sisters, Betty Lou Scott of Bartow and Joyce Fehringer of Lake Wales; brothers, Ernie Newsome of Alabama and James Thomas of Frostproof; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am until the service at 11:00 am Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery
