Shirley Jones

Shirley A. Jones of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born November 5, 1946 in Endicott, New York to the late Ralph and Mildred (Twinning) Newman; she was a resident of the area since 2004, coming from New York. She attended Owego Free Academy, was employed as an assembler for Lockheed Martin for 22 years and was of the Protestant faith. Shirley enjoyed our times together on the motorcycle and got to tour the Northeast. She loved deer hunting and acquired many deer stories over the years, her favorite was fishing. We enjoyed being alone on the boat for hours at a time enjoying the water, each other and fishing. Shirley loved mother nature and many long walks in the woods. She had an artistic ability to paint a picture or write a poem. Her outgoing personality and quick wit always had people laughing, but most of all she loved her family.

She was survived by her husband of 51 years; Gary Jones; sons, Michael Jones and wife, Karen, grandchildren, Brent and Natalie; David Jones, grandchildren, Emily and Tyler; brothers, Glenn Newman and wife, Patricia, and Roger Newman and wife, Christine; sister, Eileen Cocci; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
