Shirley Jane Green, 86

Shirley Jane Green of Frostproof passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at her residence.

She was born February 19, 1936 in Gold Ridge, Alabama to the late Hubert and Carmen Walker; she moved to Frostproof from Alabama in 1989. Shirley was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a seamstress, a great cook, and an award-winning ceramic artist. She enjoyed bowling and was active in Campfire Girls when her daughters were young.

Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Walker, and Jerry Walker; and sister, Annie Jo Wiseman. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John L. Green; daughters, Gail Barron of Inglis, Florida, and Vicki Mannix of Frostproof; sisters, Dixie Ann Ryals of Rocky Ford, Colorado, June Roper of Garden City, Alabama, and Patricia “Pat” Sawyer of Hayden, Alabama; grandchildren, Michelle Hutto and husband Jimbo of Frostproof, Bobbi Jane Houben of Frostproof, Lelton Barron of Inglis, and John Figura and wife Ceirra of Frostproof; great-grandchildren, Jimmy Lee, Kalani, Devlyn, Shelby, Mikala, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Southside Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. Michael J. Arms officiating. Interment will be held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday March 31, 2022 at Sarasota National Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor can be made to the Frostproof Volunteer Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary (47 North Lake Reedy Blvd., Frostproof, Florida 33843).
