SHIRLEY STEWART CLARK GILLEY, 84
Shirley Stewart Clark Gilley of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
She was born December 25, 1934 in Lake Wales, Florida to the late William Y. Stewart Jr. and Una Linton Stewart. She was a member of the Light House of Hope for the past 8 years. She has been a resident of Lake Wales all her life until recently moving to Tennessee with her daughter. She Co-Owned General Plumbing for over 17 years and later was an activities director for Coleman’s Nursing Home in Lake Wales, Florida. She was very creative and could make or sew anything and she loved doing it as well. She also loved flowers and working in her yard, she could make weeds look like treasures. She would spend many hours of the day doing crossword puzzles and talking on the phone to her neighbors and friends. We will remember her as always being there for everyone and never able to say “no”, she helped anyone she could no matter what it was. She enjoyed country music, listening to her daughter sing, her grandchildren and great grandchildren dance and entertain. She loved the Lord, her church and family times. Christmas was her time of the year, people referred to her as the xmas lady for her decorating abilities on the holiday. She will be greatly missed by all. I love you Mom.
She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, former husband Wayne Gilley, and their infant daughter Michelle Gilley, also former husband W. L. Clarke and their daughters Melinda Clarke Rateliff and Carol Clarke Taylor, brother William “Young and Bill” Stewart Jr.
Survivors include her daughter Waynette Gilley Cullifer and husband Dennis of Sunbright, TN, brothers Merrill Stewart of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jerome Stewart of Lake Wales, FL, grandchildren Maleena Johnson, Tammy, Amanda and Lacy Rateliff, Bobby Brush, Leigh Ann Webb and Renee Fullerton. Great grandchildren Maveric, Kaylee, Jacob, Hayden, Aniya, Bubba and Damien.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Pastor Havier Figueroa officiating.
