Shirley Thornton Fort, 82

Shirley Thornton Fort of Winter Haven passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1940, in Arlington, GA to the late Howard and Minnie Thornton; she moved with her parents to the local area in 1944. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waverly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son, John H. Fort Jr. in 1983. Survivors include her husband, John H. Fort Sr.; daughters, Sheri Ann Fort of Shellman, GA and Patricia Jane Bodell (Thomas) of Winter Haven; four grandchildren, Clint Hutchinson (Crystal) of Albany, GA with their two children, Bailey and Gage Hutchinson and Dalton, Rylee and Samantha Bodell of Winter Haven

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. David Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
