Shirley Louise Brantley, 86

Shirley Louise Brantley of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Lakeland Regional Hospital.

She was born April 16, 1935 in Boaz, Alabama to the late Luther and Euna Garrard; she moved to Lake Wales from Alabama as a teen. Shirley was retired from the Polk County School Board as a cafeteria worker, from Ben Hill Griffin, Inc., and Proctor and Gamble. She also volunteered at Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School and Frostproof Elementary School.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brantley four years ago; brothers, Gibson Garrard, Sam Garrard, Larry Garrard, GK Garrard, and Jim Garrard; and sister, Benie Gibbs. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Miles (Jon) of Tifton, Georgia; son, Jimmy Brantley of Frostproof; brothers, Troy Garrard of Lake Wales, and Wallace Garrard of Attalla, Alabama; grandchildren, Brandi Gaskin, Carley Harmeier, Jarrett Brantley, and Jordan Brantley; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Frostproof with Pastor John Essigmann and Pastor Larry Dailey officiating.
