The Lord called Sherwood Elton Glenn, 89 of Lake Wales, home on March 1, 2016. He was born on November 25, 1926 in Winter Haven, Florida to the late Elgin Clyde and Maude Estelle (Weatherington) Glenn and he has been a resident of this area for the most of his life. He was a retired meter reader for Florida Power Corporation. Sherwood was a life time member of the American Legion, the VFW, Impact Church and was a veteran of WWII Serving in the US Navy stationed at the Panama Canal. He was preceded in death by his son, John Richard Glenn in 1984; sister, Maude Alice Skinner; brothers, Edwin and Harold Glenn. Survivors include his wife of 57 1/2 years Barbara (Slay) Glenn; daughters, Sheri Glenn Wright (John) of Lake Wales, Brenda Glenn Reinecke (Tim) of Maryland, Melissa Glenn Harris (Billy Wayne) of Lake Wales; son, Sherwood “Butch” Glenn II of Lakeland; brothers, Curtis Glenn (Marty) of Lakeland, 6 grandchildren, Chris Peavy, Troy Wambles, Drew DeArmond, Cody Glenn, Briana Wright and Ricky Harris; 2 great grandchildren, Jordan and Jaida Wambles, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Impact Church. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
