Shelley Ann Paros, beloved mother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 15, 2026. Born on November 13, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, Shelley’s life was characterized by an unwavering devotion to her family, her students, and her community.
Shelley’s journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to education and personal growth, both in herself and in those around her. As a dedicated teacher, she inspired countless students, nurturing their curiosity and championing their successes. Shelley's passion for developing young minds extended beyond the classroom—she led the group Future Leaders of America at her school, fostering leadership and service among her students. Her influence will live on through the many individuals she guided and mentored throughout her career.
Shelley’s life was further enriched by her many interests and acts of service. She was an active volunteer with Toastmasters International, where she helped others find their voice and confidence. Her generous spirit extended to her frequent volunteering at church—a testament to her faith and compassion for others. A proud member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales, Shelley found both solace and purpose in her faith community.
Gardening brought Shelley much joy, and as a master gardener, she cultivated beauty and tranquility in every space she tended. She was also a member of Bok Tower, an organization that shared her appreciation for nature and community. Her home was often filled with warmth and laughter, as she loved to cook and host gatherings for friends and family, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cared for.
Shelley was cherished by her family. She is survived by her loving sons, Ryan Paros and Mackenzie Paros, as well as her devoted sisters, Pamela Hoppe (Jim) and Cynthia Decker. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chris Paros, whose memory remained dear to her heart.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales with Rev. Mackay Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Memorial Gardens.
