Shad Dopler of Babson Park passed away Monday, May 4, 2009 at his residence. He was surrounded by loving friends and family.
He was born on August 17, 1955 in Ohio, but moved to Central Florida as a child. With the exception of a few years in Lubbock, Texas, he spent most of his life in Babson Park. He was a life-long citrus grower with Dopler Groves. Shad loved the great outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent with friends boating on Crooked Lake.
Shad was preceded in death by his father, Richard F. Dopler, and his sister, Beth Dopler Ohlinger. Survivors include his mother, Patricia K. Dopler of Babson Park; brother David Dopler of Babson Park; sisters Kathrey Gibbs of Wheatfield, IN, and Ellen Jaworski of San Francisco, CA; son, Quasar Dopler; daughters, Jessica Groomer, Jenna Slater, and Aislynn Slater; grandchild, Liam Groomer.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the numerous friends and community members who rallied together and gave generously of their time, support, and love to Shad through his last days. Additionally, a special thanks is given to the compassionate staff of Good Shepard Hospice. A memorial service will be held July 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Babson Park Women'sā Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Defenders of Crooked Lake, Post Office Box 191, Babson Park, FL 33827.
