Sarah Nan Phillips

Nan G. Phillips, born Sarah Nan Grubbs on June 23, 1939 in Crandale, Texas to Sarah S. Duncan and Joe Earnest Grubbs.

She was a 1957 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Sorority. She was employed in public relations at Dr. Pepper Corporation in Dallas, Texas and later at National Life Insurance, where she met E. Earl Phillips of Omega, Georgia. They married in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964 and had three children before moving to Lake Wales in 1975. Her interest in medicine started with her employment by Dr. Carlos Unzuita, MD (Pediatrics) and later with Women’s Wellness Center (Dr. William Hardman and Dr. J. Anthony Mancini). She continued her career in the medical field as an on call EKG Technician on the weekends. In 1992, she transferred to Gessler Clinic Women’s Division in Winter Haven, Florida where she retired from after over 28 years in 2021.

Nan was preceded in death by her mother and father; and one son, Christopher D. Phillips. She is survived by her loving family, including daughter Cheryl Clark of Winter Haven; son Emmette "Buddy" Phillips, Jr. of Tifton, Georgia; sister Kelly Womack of Dallas, Texas; brother Joe Grubbs, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; and grandchildren, Bria Clark of Bartow, Bradley Clark of Lake Wales, Madison Phillips of Tifton, Georgia, and Chris Phillips of Tifton, Georgia.
