Sara Vest Steger, 89

Sara Vest Steger of Winter Haven passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Savannah Court of Lake Wales.

She was born September 20, 1932 in Lake Wales to the late Curtis Ammons and Mattie Bunch. Sara worked at Publix for 52 years. She loved to bake, play dominos, and care for other people. She loved when people enjoyed themselves during the holidays.

Sara was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Lee; second husband, James C. Vest; third husband, Elmer Steger; sisters, Marie Harper, and Nell Melton; and brother, Curtis Ammons, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Schofield and husband David of Sarasota; sons, Michael Lee and wife Linda of Clanton, Alabama, and Danny Lee of Lake Wales; sisters, Lula Mae Haines of Lake Wales, Selma Carruth of Bartow, Alvine Walker and husband Erskine of Winter Haven, Margaret Trammell of Winter Haven, Peggy Howell of Lake Wales, Winona Pitts of Winter Haven, and Kay Herndon of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Stephen Bolden officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
