Sara Jane Meyers, beloved by all who knew her, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at Winter Haven Hospital. Born on February 16, 1936, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Raymond and Maude Lewis.

Throughout her remarkable 90 years, Sara lived a life marked by compassion and dedication. She began her career as an LPN, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the care of others. Her professional journey included meaningful years at Mercy Hospital and Scioto Memorial, both in her hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio, as well as at Morton Plant in Clearwater, Florida. It was at these hospitals that Sara touched countless lives—her caring hands and kind words a comfort to so many during their times of need. Sara’s career culminated at The Ohio State University Hospital, from which she retired after many years of caring service.

Known far and wide as someone who loved to dance the jitterbug, she brought exhilaration and rhythm wherever she found music. Friends and family still smile at the stories of her youthful adventures street racing, building a reputation as a “little lead foot”. Anyone lucky enough to catch a Buckeyes game with her witnessed firsthand her passionate fandom and infectious enthusiasm.

To those who knew her best, Sara was universally “Mom”—regardless of family ties. Her nurturing nature extended far beyond her own family. She offered guidance, care, and unconditional love to friends, neighbors, and new acquaintances alike. Sara was outspoken and unwavering in her love for Jesus, a faith she carried proudly and shared openly.

Sara was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert M. Lyles; her second husband, William Meyers; her parents, Raymond and Maude Lewis; and her brother, Bob Lewis. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Corrin and her children, Kat Corrin Gernon (Greg) and Trey Corrin; as well as her son, Andy Lyles (Chris) and his children.
