Sandra Yvonne Hodges, 79
Sandra Y. Hodges of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Advent Health Lake Wales.
She was born on November 11, 1940, in Lakeland, Florida. She has been a lifelong resident of this area, having moved to Lake Wales at 12 years of age. She was a homemaker, but she also worked in her mother’s ceramic shop, B & B Ceramics in West Lake Wales FL & assisted her husband in their cottage industries; S & J nursery and Hodges Tree Service until they both retired. Sandra was a founding member of the Lake Wales Seventh-day Adventist Church where she was still an active member.
Her favorite past times included going to the movies and flea markets, going out to eat, watching her favorite television shows, listening to talk radio, playing card games and talking politics. Sandra was above anything else a caregiver for others, having taken care of her brother, parents, and husband during their final moments of life. She loved family time, supporting her grandsons’ endeavors and her great-grandson Oli was her greatest joy. She was a great listener, everyone went to her for love & support, anyone who knew her was blessed to call her a friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Lee Hodges, daughter Michelle Yvonne Hodges, Son Gregory Shawn Hodges, and brother Byron Bradley
She is survived by her daughter Shelley Snavely of Lake Wales, FL and two adopted sons, Joseph Hodges and Joshua Hodges, brother Phillip Bradley of Thomasville, GA, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson, and many extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Marion Nelson Funeral Home Lake Wales, Florida Friday, December 27, 2019. Family visitation 12:00 pm, Visitation for friends at 1 pm with services beginning at 2 pm. Family and friends are invited to fellowship together immediately following the graveside services at the Lake Wales Seventh-day Adventist church.
