Sam E. Turner of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born March 24, 1917 in Luverne, AL to the late John & Jenny (Odom) Turner; and he came here from Alabama 65 years ago. He was the owner/operator of Turner Grove Service, a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2420, was very active in the Lion's Club and loved to go fishing.
Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn G. Turner; daughter, Karen T. Clarke (John) of Winter Haven; son, Scott Turner (Linda) of Winter Haven; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. David Koon and Rev. Lloyd "Charles" Charlton officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golfview Baptist Church Children's Ministry (107 Hibiscus Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853) or The Greater Lake Wales Health Care Foundation (410 South 11th Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853).
