Ruth S. Whidden

Ruth S. Whidden, 90. of Frostproof, Florida passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her residence. She was born December 19, 1925 in Johnson City, TN to the late Ed and Sallie (Williams) Smalling; she moved here from Johnson City, TN 70 years ago. She was a citrus grower and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof. She helped run Whidden Mobile Home Park and loved cooking and family time. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Grady D. Whidden and brother, James Smalling. Survivors include her children, Linda Davis and husband, Ted of Frostproof, FL, Gary Whidden and wife, Patty of Frostproof, FL and David Whidden and wife, Sue of Winter Haven, FL; sister, Aleta Hendrix of Elizabethton, TN.; four grandchildren, Brian Whidden, Marshall (Missy) Whidden, Luke (Brittany) Davis and Jake Davis and three great grandchildren, Reese Whidden, Paige Whidden and Graison Davis. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Frostproof, FL with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 150 Devane Street, Frostproof, FL 33843.
