Ruth Harvey

September 20, 1915 — December 18, 2006

Ruth Harvey, 91, of Monticello, FL went to be with her Lord on December 18, 2006. She passed away in her home Monday evening with her daughter present.

She was born in East Branch, PA and lived in Jamestown, NY. She was a graduate of Nyack Bible College, an LPN, and a missionary to Bethany Orphanage, British Columbia, and Gabon Africa for ten years. She lived in Lake Wales, FL from 1965-1975. She lived in California with her son, Pastor James Harvey and served in hospital ministry there. She retired in 1991 to Monticello where she taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church and served many in the nursing home and prison ministries.

Ruth was preceded in death by her son, James Harvey. She is survived by her daughter, Dessie Harvey of Monticello, her sisters Mary Brown of Monticello, Vera Johnson of Marietta, GA, and Leora Wilcox of Irving, TX, and Robert Sharpless of Babson Park, as well as her grandchildren Bob Sharpless of Tallahassee, Susan Hoak of Longwood, Ken Sharpless of Frostproof, Dan Sharpless of Babson Park, Shawn Harvey of Bellingham, WA, and Erin Biskup of Sacremento, CA. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Melissa, Tracey, Christopher, Jeffrey, Autumn, Dawn, Megan, Joshua, Casey, Pam, Christopher, Kayla, Justin, Austin, Anna Ruth, Lily, and Magdalene Ann as well as great-great grandchildren Shayna, Skyler, Faith, and McKenzie.

Family Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. on December 23, 2006 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, FL. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Marion Nelson Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at the Lake Wales cemetery.

A memorial service will be held in Monticello on December 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Center at 1599 Springhollow Rd. For those who wish, donations for this service should be made to the Ruth Harvey Memorial Missions Fund or to Refuge House in her honor.
