Ruth Balliett Garrett

Ruth Balliett Garrett of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born October 2, 1917 in St. Paul, MN to the late John & Borghild (Alfstad) Askegard, and came to Lake Wales 70 years ago from Minneapolis, MN. She retired from Sears Department Store in the catalog sales department and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Wales. She was a member of the Scandinavian Club, Martha Rachel Circle, United Methodist Women's Association and the Alter Guild for First United Methodist Church

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard M. Balliett, and second husband, William Garrett. Survivors include her sons, Arthur (Jan) Balliett of Lake Wales, John (Virginia) Balliett of Lake Worth, FL and Ward (Mona Higgins) Balliett of Lake Wales; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 09, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Jeff Kantz officiating and visitation starting at 10:00 AM.
