Ruby Mae Temples

Ruby Mae Temples of Longwood passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at her residence.

She was born May 14, 1914 in Thomasville, GA to the late Arthur L. & Julia C. Lewis and she grew in Georgia and Florida and moved back to Florida from Moultrie, GA in 1934. She was married to Albert Hanson Coppedge on March 31, 1935 and they had two sons, Roger Hanson Coppedge and Albert Harvey Coppedge. She joined First Baptist Church of Lake Wales in 1938, was active in Sunday school, serving for several years in the primary department and The Golden Heirs Choir. In later years she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union and was a secretary in the S. S. Class for many years. She began working for Sears Roebuck & Co in 1957, retiring in 1972 and married Charles T. Temples on August 10, 1969. She was a member and publicity chairman of Snappy Seniors and became a member of the Lake Wales Woman’s Club in 1974 and served for 10 years as registrar. She began volunteering at the Lake Wales Medical Center in October 1994.

Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Hanson Coppedge; second husband, Charles T. Temples; and her son, Albert Harvey Coppedge. Survivors include her son, Roger Hanson Coppedger of Longwood; daughter-in-law, Sharie Pickles of Lake Wales; step-brothers, Louie Palmer of Cairo, GA and Ludie Palmer of Pelham, GA; five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery with Dr. Scott Markley officiating.
