Roy Arthur Langston

October 13, 1935 — June 28, 2014

Roy Arthur Langston, 78, died in his Florida home on Saturday, June 28, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer and COPD.

Born in Elijah, Missouri, on October 13, 1935, he lived in St. Louis and Jefferson City, Missouri, before retiring to Florida in 1992. Roy was a plant engineer with degrees from Washington University and the University of Missouri. He worked at Granite City Steel and Universal Match in St. Louis, as well as ABB in Jefferson City. Roy was a member of the US Navy, though his pride and passion came from his service with the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He continued to pursue recreational parachuting into his early 50’s. Roy was also an avid tennis player and life-long fisherman. He will be remembered for his keen intellect and quick wit that kept a smile on the faces of his family through his final hours.

Roy is survived by his wife, Gail, sister Susan Merritt (Rod), sister Diane Lambert (Paul), daughter Holly Setter (Scott), son Cliff Langston (Jennifer) and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers David and Michael, and his children’s mother, Judy (Kellinger).
