Roy Gene Joiner

Roy Gene Joiner of Lake Wales passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

He was born June 13, 1932 in Moultrie, GA to the late Joe B. & Evelyn I. Joiner; and he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired fire fighter for the City of Lake Wales, was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.

Roy was preceded in death by his son, Chris Joiner in 1988.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Evelyn R. Joiner, sons, Roy Joiner, Jr of GA and Timothy Lynn Joiner of Lakeland; step-sons, George L. Livezey of Winter Haven, Edward J. Livezey of Rockaway Beach, NY and Matthew R. Livezey of Auburn, WA; brother, Len Joiner of Vassar, KS; sisters, Carolyn Linton of Longview, TX and Joanne Davis of Hayword, CA; two nieces, Brenda McDaniel of Lake Wales and Connie Jones of Lake Wales; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Dundee United Methodist Church. Refreshments will be served after the service in the fellowship hall.
