Ross Douglass Williams

Ross Douglass Williams, 74, of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Thursday, August 13,2015 at his residence.

He was born on May 29, 1941 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Harrell W. and Elizabeth (Broom) Williams and has been a resident of the area since 1966 moving here from Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was a retired Equipment Technician for Verizon for over 40 years. Ross was a Boy Scout volunteer for 60 years and Lake Region District Commissioner, member Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary for 27 years, Member of the VFW post 2420, coached baseball and softball for Lake Wales Little League, served two missions with Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Jerrie Williams; daughter, Corey Williams of Lake Wales; sons, Ross D. Williams, Jr. of Lakeland, Kevin Williams of Richmond, VA, Joseph Williams of Sebring, Walter Williams of Winter Haven, Jared Williams of Winter Haven, Andrew Williams of Lake Wales; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Frank Martin officiating.

Interment will be held 2:30 PM Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 State Road 72 Sarasota, Florida 34241.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
