Roscoe E. “Pete” Wilkin, 82, of Lake Wales passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
Born September 6, 1925 in Highland County, OH; he has been a winter resident since 1989 coming from Dayton, OH. He was a retired tool designer for Laughter Co. in Dayton, OH, a 50 year member of the Central Christian Church in Dayton and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, who fought at the Battle of the Buldge. He was a member of the Co. A, 146th Engineering Battalion Reunion Group and the American Legion Post 526 in Fairborn, OH. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed playing euchre, vegetable & flower gardening, wood crafting and traveling. He was also a buckeye fan, especially basketball.
Mr. Wilkin was preceded in death by his brother, Emmitt R. Wilkin and sisters, Loree Smith, Clara Mae Varner and Ina Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Esther Wilkin; daughters, Barbara Ann Sheidler of Bellbrook, OH and Nancy Lou Bernhard of New Carlisle, OH; sisters, Lavina Hunt of Horseshoe Bend, AR and Susan Mounts of Newark, OH; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
