Ronald C. Taylor

October 13, 1943 — February 13, 2010

Ronald C. Taylor died peacefully at his home on February 13, 2010 after a 16 month struggle with cancer. As a follower of Jesus Christ, Ron found strength and hope in the Biblical promise of the Apostle Paul, "We have courage, and are well pleased rather to be away from the home of the body, and to be at home with the Lord (II Cor 5:8)."

Ron was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Wayne High School where he lettered in four sports and earned academic honors. In 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Wilson. Ron and Cheryl had three boys; Dean, Chris, and Scott.

After living in Lima, Ohio for 20 years, the family moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 1987. In 1993 Ron and Cheryl opened the Printer's Pallette at the Eagle Ridge Mall. It is now located across the street in Willow Brook Square.

Ron was an avid sportsman in his life. He was a tournament fisherman and member of the Polk County Bass and Snook Club. He was also a member of High Point Church where he loved the people and his pastors. He often commented about the wonderful spiritual growth he experienced as a member of his church family.

Ron is preceded in death by his son Chris and parents, Glenn and Helen Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl; two sons, Dean (granddaughter Rachel) of Winter Haven, FL and Scott (Tristal and grandchildren, Faith, Hope and Noah) of Brandon, FL; sister, Connie Ducey (Bill) of San Anselmo, CA; brother, Don Taylor (Pam) of Anderson, IN; daughter-in-law, Becky Taylor (granddaughter, Hannah Faith); sisters-in-law, Sandy Gray (Bill) and Denise Derickson (Conrad), many dear lifelong and new friends, loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his best friend (dog) "Princess".

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at High Point Church, 501 Burns Ave in Lake Wales, FL. Visitation and gathering of friends will be held Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Good Shepherd Hospice for their assistance in caring for Ron over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be given on behalf of Ron to, (Chris' daughter), Hannah Faith Taylor's trust fund.
